On 15th to 17th April, the Roadscene editorial team were at the Commercial Vehicle Show 08. There was a chance to look at some great pictures of yesterday's road transport and get close-up to some of the great vehicles that you have seen on recent covers of Roadscene!
We also had two giants from the past to grace our stand with their presence. These are Richard Rasey's 1955 eight-wheel Atkinson Tipper (VRS98) and Alan & Francis Cleaver's AEC Mammoth Major Jet Petroleum tanker (VRS95).
Press Release:
'Prize Draw Not a Fix'
On the final day of the recent CV Show, the draw was made to find the winner of a super Scalextric Digital Racing Car Set kindly donated by leading hobby manufacturers, Hornby as part of the CV Show’s 60th Post War Anniversary. From the large number of business cards and entry forms left on the Heritage Display stand in Hall 17.
The winner was Di Forbes, a Director of Truck Fix Ltd. Highfield Works, Bradford Road, Cleckheaton, BD193TN. However, despite the company’s name the draw was not a ‘fix’ as the draw was made by Show Chairman David Sedgeley and Alan Earnshaw (the Editor of Vintage Roadscene magazine) and monitored by Show Chairman Tony Young. It was significant to the Heritage theme of the display on stand 17-060 however, as Di’s company not only manufacturers clutches for the current day commercial vehicle industry, but they also produce ‘one-off specials’ for the preserved vehicle sector.
The set, worth £220, will soon be winging its way to West Yorkshire, where Di admits she is going to have a lot of fun racing the set against her three sons!
